Types of Cardiomyopathy
Dilated Cardiomyopathy: If a heart is dilated, it is called Dilated Cardiomyopathy. Its causes are:
- Viral infection
- Post pregnancy
- Post-cancer chemotherapy treatment
- Certain hereditary conditions
Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy: In this condition, the heart muscle becomes thick and requires medical and surgical therapy.
Restrictive Cardiomyopathy: Irregular heartbeat can also cause weakness of heart muscle and failure. Sudden death is a complication of cardiomyopathy, and it may be prevented by implantable cardioverter defibrillator.
